Newsletter September 2020
It’s the big Liberty sale! We are currently offering 20% off on ALL Liberty fabrics in stock. the only exclusion is the remnant pieces because they are ALWAYS 20% off!
We have some real treats in this sale - all the new season Autumn/Winter Liberty fabrics, including chambray, linen mix, needlecord and tencel fabric bases.
Then there are a few older designs we managed to get our hands on - the Marble Hearts jersey is particularly lovely!
And of course the classics: Mitsi, Tresco, Strawberry Thief, Wild Flowers - all perennial favourites, some in fresh new colours, some in the original (Tresco 🥰)
We have started a new series of blog posts to help bust your stash of smaller pieces of fabric. The first one is a tutorial on how to make a simple sleep mask.
We’ve been making lots of these, both to sell and as gifts for family and friends. We love making pyjama trousers as Christmas gifts and now we’re adding a matching sleep mask to each pair!
SEWING PATTERNSWe’re starting to venture into stocking some sewing patterns. The first ones have already arrived and they’re by The Sewing Workshop. We love the timeless yet avant gardey style of these patterns, created by Linda Lee, whose website is a great one to visit for lots of sewing tutorials and tips, as well as PDF versions of the patterns if you’re over paper (we’re not!)
We have more waiting to be listed, there are soo many beautiful patterns!!
RECYCLED SEWING THREAD
We’re also expanding our range of haberdashery, with lots of new colours of our preferred machine sewing thread - Gütermann recycled sew-all - now in stock and still to come.
Liberty aside we've had new jersey knits and rayon in from Art Gallery Fabrics and some beautiful organic brushed cottons and organic Christmas craft and quilting cottons from Cloud 9.
We've also got some more double gauze in a lovely autumnal burnt orange with gold spots, some more lightweight denim and there's a delivery due soon from Lady McElroy which will include a new fabric base with the summer's big hit 'Fashion Focused'. We can't wait!!
We're also now stocking a new interfacing by Vilene which has been developed especially for use in washable face coverings. It's a sew-in interfacing that you add in between the two layers and sew as normal. It can be washed at 60 ℃ and is highly breathable. We love it as it means you don't need to add a pocket for a removeable filter any more, and it also allows you to use finer fabrics for face coverings as it adds a little bit of body.
Phew! It's been a very busy month here at Catkin+Scrapz HQ. I've been doing lots of sewing as well, to try and hone my skills (very needful!) and to show off some of our beautiful fabrics and see for myself how they sew up, wash, wear etc.
Until next time!
